Machine vision system for drum brake bearing production control

Challenge: Develop a device that automatically verifies the presence of circlip and the bearing orientation in the break drum production, and includes storage space for bad parts.

Solution: The system was developed on the basis of a NI-CVS processing unit and a high-resolution camera. It comprises of two passive conveyors, the lower serving as storage for bad parts, while the product is inspected on the upper one. The pneumatic cylinder installed on the upper conveyor halts the product, and releases it only after the quality of the product has been confirmed. Bad parts are manually removed and placed on the lower conveyor - storage.
